LONDON GIRLS REACH TESCO CUP ENGLAND FINAL
London Girls U14's won the Tesco Cup Southern Regional Final on Saturday at Richardson Evans Memorial Playing Fields, Putney, South West London. The girls will now advance to the English National Final of the Tesco Cup to be held at the Walkers Stadium, Leicester, on Sunday, May 17.
London Girls played well throughout the day, winning three out of four matches in the round robin stages before meeting the Beecholme Belles from Surrey in the final, who they defeated 1-0. England women's player Casey Stoney, who attended the event in Putney along with Kerry Dixon, selected Grace Gibbs from London Girls as ‘Player of the tournament' for her impressive performance throughout the day, including an incredible volley goal minutes before the final whistle.
Casey Stoney also selected the following players to receive awards:
Best Goalkeeper: Samantha Crippes (Poole Town)
Best Defender: Jess Chandler (Beecholme Belles)
Best Midfielder: Georgia Matthews (Beecholme Belles)
Best Forward: Grace Gibbs (London Girls)
