LLANGYFELACH GIRLS PROGRESS TO UK FINAL
Llangyfelach Girls from West Wales won the Tesco Cup Welsh Final on Sunday April 20 in Cardiff. The team will now advance to the UK Final of the Tesco Cup to be held at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton on Sunday May 24. After a tense round robin tournament they were able to beat Thornhill Athletic 3-0 in what would become the title decider.
Cardiff City Club Captain Darren Purse, who attended the event in Cardiff, chose promising Penycae Youth player Amy Jenkins ‘Player of the Tournament'.
Darren Purse also selected the following players to receive awards:
Best Goalkeeper: Rachel Davies (Llangyfelach Girls)
Best Defender: Lucy Pugh (Abertysswg Angels)
Best Midfielder: Emma Thomas (Thornhill Athletic)
Best Forward: Catherine Walsh (Thornhill Athletic)
