BRISLINGTON FC PROGRESS TO NATIONAL FINAL

Brislington FC U14 girls football team won the Tesco Cup South West England Regional Final at BAWA Sports Club, Bristol on Sunday 3 May. The girls now advance to the National Final of the Tesco Cup at the Walkers Stadium, Leicester on 17 May.

Brislington FC won four of their five matches during the tournament. Bristol Rovers defender Craig Hinton attended the event and selected Brislington footballer Abbie Southway as Player of the Tournament for the U14 girls age category. Teammate Sonja Wooten was chosen as Best Goalkeeper and Charlotte Reardon Best Defender.

The following players won individual awards:

Best Goalkeeper: Sonja Wooten (Brislington FC)
Best Defender: Charlotte Reardon (Brislington FC)
Best Midfielder: Hayley Worsley (Exmouth Amateurs)
Best Forward: Nicola Russell (Truro City)
Player of the Tournament: Abbie Southway (Brislington FC)

Craig Hinton said, ‘The Tesco Cup tournament is very positive for the development of football in the UK. It is great to see youngsters enjoying the game and participating in a structured competition. Congratulations to all the teams who have qualified for the English National final and good luck to all the players as the competition progresses.'
